Bema Homes for the less privilege was founded in September 2001 by Mrs. Benedicta C. Jereke, a generous and passionate lover of Children and humanity in general. Her commitment to good and total care of the education of the young people particularly orphans & the less privileged ones, weighed heavily on her mind for several years.
"The spirit of the Lord is upon mye because he has anointedme to bring good news to the poor (Luke 4:18)
The above gospel passage preselnts an unwavering platform for Bema homes, to bring good news, hope, joy and happiness to the less privilege in our society. When the whole world shuts the poor off, Jesus had a great concern for the poor, the down trodden and the neglected. He stood for the poor and spoke for their rights. He was the voice of the voiceless; the shepherd of the sheep. The poor are blessed because they only God as their security.
From time immemorial, poverty and poor has been in existence. The two have always been part of every society in every age. The book of Deuteronomy says "there will never cease to some in need on the earth" (Deut. 5:11) mahatma Gandhi lovingly called them harijans which means God's children.
Nothing is more valuable and commendable than charity and yet, there is no duty that is less practiced than charity. we often feel concern and pity over the wretchedness and distress of our fellow humans, but seldom do we empathize with condition and try to alleviate their plans unless we deeply involve ourselves in th plight of the people, all our sympathy is no more that emotions and feelings that pass away soon.
Charity and love are synonyms in the Christian sense. Christ is not true to its name if it proceeds from wordly view or selfish conditions. Charity is real and true when it proceeds from the love of God and from their pains and suffering is the prime task of charity.
Charity is the virtue by which the followers of Jesus are knows. However small ones action be when it is done with love, it matters a lot in the lives of those who receive and share of them.
